የልኡክ ጽሁፍ ርዕስEthiopia: Tigray Capital, Mekelle Bans Smoking In Public Areas





Addis Ababa the capital of Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, Mekelle, has banned a smoking in public areas, making it the first Ethiopian city to implement a tobacco control proclamation bills passed by parliament last year.


Ethiopia law maker last year unanimously passed a law prohibiting smoking in public has a part of national effort to discourage a practice and curb tobacco-related illness.


The bans, which has been welcomed the wider public, also intends to help reduce exposure to second-hand smoke.


The new law restrict smoking in public areas, including sport, school, bars and restaurant and will also banned in open air space, hospital, health centre and others areas where cultural and religious event take place.
